Creating Connection Through Intention, Turning Details Into Experiences People Remember

The Heart of It

I’m Makayla Robles, an event and communications specialist who believes experiences should tell a story and bring people together. San Antonio has shaped my understanding of creativity, culture, and hospitality, and those values guide the way I approach every project. Whether I am managing a major river parade, coordinating with partners, or crafting a brand-aligned activation, I put intention into every detail. I want the experience to linger, not just in the moment, but in the way people remember it afterward.

My Approach

I bring equal parts strategy and soul to every project I take on.

I believe excellent logistics create the space for meaningful memories, and that clear communication and thoughtful planning are the foundation of any successful experience.

My approach is rooted in collaboration, empathy, and a commitment to getting the details right.

I walk through every stakeholder’s perspective, triple check the flow, and make sure everyone is aligned long before the event begins.

I plan thoroughly enough to prevent most issues, yet I stay ready to adapt with calm and intention whenever something changes.

My focus is always to ensure the experience feels cohesive, smooth, and thoughtfully guided from start to finish.

Volunteer management became a natural passion for me because I genuinely love building connections with people and creating memories together at our events. Our volunteers are the heart of the River Walk, and we could not do what we do without them. I will always be grateful for the time, energy, and joy they bring to our programs. I created the slogan “Volunteers make the River Walk a place to remember” because it is true in every sense. They show up for us, so I always go the extra mile for them. They make our work meaningful, they make our events come alive, and they make the River Walk a community.
